The City of Surrey is looking for businesses that are willing to lease their industrial land and then use the land as a truck parking facility.
At yesterday's Surrey City Council meeting, council voted on a request proposal for a potential parking operator.

Now the city staff has been urged to find such places which can be used for truck parking.
The Mayor says that a large number of trucks are based in Surrey and the trucking industry is making a significant contribution to keeping the supply chain running.
Councilor Harry Bains says despite Surrey's industrial land, the system to support the trucking industry is failing, with trucks being forced to park on roads, leading to noise complaints.
City staff will now work with the BC Transportation Financing Authority to find provincial government land and explore the possibility of using that land for truck parking.
