Calgary YouTuber Accused of Threatening PM Mark Carney to Appear in Court Again

A Calgary YouTuber accused of making death threats against Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is scheduled to appear in court again today.

The accused, Jamie Da Costa, was previously denied bail and ordered to remain in custody. He is currently being held at the Calgary Remand Centre.

Da Costa has been charged under Section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code with uttering threats to cause the death of Canada’s prime minister.

According to the RCMP, police were notified on July 28 that a video containing the alleged threats had been posted on a YouTube account. Court documents indicate the incident took place between July 25 and 26.

The video allegedly encouraged Canadians to travel to Ottawa and carry out violent acts against Prime Minister Carney and members of his family.

Da Costa is also facing several other serious charges in addition to the threat-related case.

His lawyer said the high-profile case involving Prime Minister Mark Carney is being handled by the Special Prosecution team.

Car-Motorcycle Collision in Kelowna, Rider Killed

Kelowna RCMP has confirmed the death of a motorcycle rider following a crash on Highway 97 Thursday night. Police said the collision occurred at around 10 p.m. at the intersection of Harvey Avenue and Ethel Street, involving a black sedan and a motorcycle.
