Vancouver Police are renewing their appeal for information about the 2023 murder of 32-year-old Jose Kaze in the Granville Entertainment District. Just before 3:15 a.m. on August 4, 2023, Jose Kaze was fatally stabbed mid-block on Granville Street, between Smithe and Nelson. Investigators from VPD’s Homicide Unit continue to work on the case and believe there are people with information who, for various reasons, have not yet come forward. “We know the Granville Mall remains busy just after 3 a.m. on weekends, and someone would have seen what happened,” says Constable Jason Doucette. ?

BC safety officials have issued a total of nearly $30,000 in fines to campfires that violated the campfire ban over the three days of the long weekend. The official said 26 people were issued tickets during the first long weekend since the campfire restrictions went into effect, with each ticket being $1,150, for a total of $29,900 in fines.
