No Deal Will Compromise Farmers’ Interests: Shivraj Chouhan
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who arrived in Punjab on the occasion of Rakhar Punnya, said the Indian government would not enter into any agreement with any country at the expense of farmers’ interests.
Chouhan said all agreements signed by the Indian government have been made keeping public interests in mind and have benefited the people. Clarifying India’s position on talks with the United States, he said that no agreement has been reached with the U.S. so far and that discussions are still underway.

A couple from Port Moody, B.C., is missing after devastating floods and mudslides triggered by a glacial outburst along the Nepal-Tibet border, leaving their family deeply concerned.
According to reports, 52-year-old Dhaval Shah and his 50-year-old wife, Megha Shah, were travelling to Tibet to visit the sacred Mount Kailash. The couple was staying at Hotel Kailash in the Timure area near the Nepal-China border shortly before the floods struck Wednesday morning. They were preparing to head toward a border checkpoint when contact with their tour company was lost.

Around 320 Indians Missing After Nepal-Tibet Floods, 400 Stranded in China
Around 320 Indian nationals are missing following devastating floods along the Nepal-Tibet border, while nearly 400 Indians remain stranded on the Chinese side.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs said it is ready to provide Kathmandu with all possible assistance in its rescue and relief operations. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said 96 Indian nationals stranded on the Chinese side have safely reached Nepal by road.
He also said that 21 Indians who had reached Kathmandu from flood-affected areas of Nepal arrived in New Delhi a day later.

B.C. Conservative MLA Bruce Banman Leaves Party, Will Sit as Independent
B.C. Conservative MLA for Abbotsford-South Bruce Banman has left the party and announced that he will sit as an independent member in the legislature.
Banman is the sixth MLA to leave the party this month amid growing concerns over leader Karin Kirkpatrick Findlay’s leadership. In a statement, Banman said he had been receiving consistent feedback from residents that Findlay, who currently does not hold a seat in the legislature, is unable to lead the party to an election victory.
