CBI arrests DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar in bribery case
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Deputy Inspector General Harcharan Singh Bhullar, posted in Ropar Range, in connection with a bribery case. Officials said a CBI team conducted a raid at Bhullar’s office in Chandigarh before taking him into custody.
According to sources, Bhullar is accused of demanding and accepting a bribe of around five lakh rupees. The alleged payment was linked to a scrap dealer from Mandi Gobindgarh in Fatehgarh Sahib district.

Navneet Chaturvedi arrested by Ropar Police
Ropar Police have arrested Navneet Chaturvedi in connection with the Rajya Sabha nomination forgery case.
Chaturvedi faces serious allegations of forging the signatures of several Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs on his Rajya Sabha nomination papers. As many as ten FIRs have been registered against him in Punjab related to the case.
A major confrontation reportedly took place between Chandigarh Police and Punjab Police over his custody after the arrest.
Chaturvedi had filed his nomination papers as an independent candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha bypoll.

Bihar elections likely to be announced next week
The Election Commission of India is likely to announce the schedule of assembly elections in Bihar next week. The final voter list for the Bihar elections will be published on September 30, after which Election Commission officials will visit Patna on October 4 and 5 to review the election preparations.

Punjab Cabinet gives green signal to prosecute corruption case against Dharamsot
The Cabinet meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has approved the prosecution of a corruption case against former Punjab Cabinet Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot. This case was registered by the Vigilance Bureau in June 2022.
The Punjab Cabinet today recommended to the Governor for approval to prosecute further action in this matter.
