A police officer killed in an avalanche while skiing in a backcountry area north of Nelson has been identified as a four-year member of the local force who moved to BC after an 11 year stint with the Calgary Police Service. A Vancouver Police investigation has led to criminal charges against an accused shoplifter who allegedly threw hot soup in the face of a downtown convenience store worker Sunday night. The 70 year old victim was injured when she tried to stop the would-be thief. The suspect, who was carrying a cup of instant noodles, allegedly threw the soup in the woman’s face and on her clothes.
