Sameer Sharma, a 44-year-old television actor, was found dead in his Malad apartment in Mumbai late on Wednesday night. Malad police officials confirmed that the actor died by suicide. Sameer was a popular face on television, and he appeared in shows like Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki and Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Jyoti, Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Du, and Left Right Left, among others. He was also seen in Bollywood films Hasee Toh Phasee and Ittefaq. On Sameer Sharma's suicide, an officer from Malad police station said that the actor stayed at the first floor of Neha CHS building, Ahinsa Marg in Malad (West), Mumbai and on Wednesday a security guard found him dead and alerted the society members."

A case of accidental death (ADR) has been registered and his body has been sent to a government hospital for autopsy. The police are still investigating this matter. It is rather ironical that several cases of suicide from television and film industry have been reported in the year 2020 including Manmeet Grewal, Preksha Mehta and Sushant Singh Rajput. Sameer shared his last social media post, which is a picture of the sea, on Instagram on July 29.
