Renowned theatre artiste Gurcharan Singh Channi succumbs to Covid/ Facebook
Covid claimed the life of NSD alumnus and theatre personality Gurcharan Singh Channi on Thursday morning.
He had been on a ventilator for a while in Chandigarh.
Director of Centre for Education & Voluntary Action (CEVA), Gurcharan Singh Channi was a Fulbright Scholar at Boston University College of Communication. He is the recipient of the Sangeet Natak Academi Award for community theatre.
Right from his first play, 'Dafa 144', 'Zindagi Retire Nahi Hoti' to the latest 'Rocket ho ya Bomb, Pehno Condom', Channi's plays have been a theatre of the people, for the people and by the people.
Channi has to his credit several telefilms, including the acclaimed Tuttu, and over two dozen documentaries.
