Amid Indo-Pak war like situation, Bhool Chuk Maaf will not release in theatres

In an unexpected move that has left cinema exhibitors disappointed, acclaimed producer Dinesh Vijan has decided to forgo a theatrical release for his upcoming film Bhool Chuk Maaf, opting instead for a direct-to-digital premiere on Amazon Prime Video.

Scheduled May 9 cinema release of Bhool Chuk Maaf, starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, has been officially cancelled. The film will now release globally on Prime Video on May 16.

The production houses Maddock Films and Amazon MGM Studios released a joint statement citing national security as the key reason for the shift:
“In light of the recent events and the heightened security drills across the nation, we at Maddock Films and Amazon MGM Studios have decided to bring our family entertainer, Bhool Chuk Maaf, directly to your homes on May 16—only on Prime Video, worldwide. While we were eagerly looking forward to celebrating the film with you in theatres, the spirit of the nation comes first. Jai Hind.”
