Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar is in the line of fire after his named surfaced in Sushant Singh Rajput’s alleged suicide. Reports have pointed that this has led to Netflix India dropping the name of Karan Johar’s production house, Dharma Productions from the poster and trailer of the film. This has also made people wonder whether the streaming platform Netflix, has distanced themselves from the controversial producer to avoid the movie from being adversely affected.
When approached by a news portal, Netflix India said there is no truth in the story doing the rounds. "When the film releases on the service, it will carry every rightful credit relevant, as is the case with all Netflix titles – films or series," a Netflix representative shared in an email.
On the other hand, there have been several calls online to boycott Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl as a mark of solidarity towards Sushant Singh Rajput, and who many feel did not get his due in the Hindi film industry and fell prey to nepotism. Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl is based on India’s first female combat pilot Gunjan Saxena, and is releasing directly on Netflix on August 12.
