Punjabi singer-actor has decided not to accept the prestigious Shiromani "Gayak" award to protest against Farm laws of 2020 and to lent support to the farmers.
He wrote about this in detail on his social media handle.
Harbhajan Mann wrote- "I got selected for the ‘Shiromani Gayak’ award in the annual Shiromani Awards given by the Language Department.
I am grateful to the Advisory Board for selecting me for this prestigious award.
Wherever I am today is due to the farmers, mother tongue Punjabi, and all Punjabis. My singing was also loved by the farmers which enabled me to get this award today," he added.
He further said that Today, the annadata of the entire country, including Punjab, are on the streets, seeking justice from those who are depriving the farmers of their rights. "Their future is in dark. Therefore, I do not want to receive the ‘Shiromani Award’. My family and I have decided not to accept this award," he shared.
