Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap, famed for his iconic film Gangs of Wasseypur, has long voiced his concerns about the changing dynamics within the industry. He has expressed frustration over how Bollywood has increasingly become driven by profit, with little consideration for cinema as an artistic expression. Now, two months after announcing his decision to leave Mumbai, Kashyap has taken the plunge, moving to a city far removed from the industry's bustling epicenter.
"I’ve left Mumbai. I want to distance myself from the film industry. It’s become too toxic. Everyone is fixated on unrealistic targets, striving to create films that gross Rs 500 or Rs 800 crore. The creative environment has completely vanished," he shared during a recent conversation with a news channel. While he confirmed that he had already paid the first month’s rent for his new place, Kashyap refrained from naming the city he relocated to. However, a source close to the filmmaker later revealed that he has settled in Bengaluru.
