Second large seizure of fentanyl at Mexico City airport
Mexican marines and customs authorities say they have seized 250 pounds (113.5 kilograms) of the synthetic opioid fentanyl at the Mexico City airport. It was the second such large bust at the airport this month. Authorities said Tuesday the fentanyl was found in four small cardboard drums that were part of an air freight shipment. President Trump says UAE to open diplomatic ties with Israel
President Donald Trump says the United Arab Emirates and Israel will establish diplomatic ties in a deal halting the planned annexation of occupied land sought by the Palestinians for their future state. The announcement by Trump came in a tweet on Thursday. It means the UAE, which is home to the cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, would become the first Gulf Arab state to have ties to Israel. Among Arab nations, only Egypt and Jordan have active diplomatic ties with Israel. Egypt made a peace deal with Israel in 1979, followed by Jordan in 1994.

3 dead, 6 in hospital after train derails in Scotland
British Transport Police say three people died and six were taken to the hospital with injuries after a passenger train derailed in northeast Scotland amid stormy weather. The train's driver is believed to be among the dead, but formal identification is pending. Lebanon president says he knew of chemicals at port in July
Lebanon's president is confirming top leaders and security officials were aware of the 2750 tonnes of highly explosive ammonium nitrate stored in a waterfront warehouse since 2013.

US President re-imposing tariffs on Canadian aluminum
US President Donald Trump is re-imposing tariffs on Canadian aluminum. Trump says he signed a proclamation today that will restore the 10 per cent tariffs. He says ``Canada was taking advantage of us, as usual.'' In a speech at a Whirlpool factory in Ohio, Trump touted his record of defending American workers.
