Farmers in Punjab and Haryana today protested at several places under the leadership of Non-Political United Kisan Morcha and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha regarding legal guarantee of minimum support price for crops and other farmers' demands. Farmers protested against the BJP at several places including Amritsar, Moga, Kurukshetra, Ambala, Sonepat and Panchkula along the Shambhu Front between Punjab Haryana and burnt effigies. The farmers said that the agitation will continue till their demands are met.

British Columbia's Ministry of Land and Water says personnel are conducting assessments near a landslide that blocked the Chilcotin River in the province's Interior, including to understand risks that might exist downstream. The Israeli military said Thursday that it has confirmed that the head of Hamas' military wing, Mohammed Deif, was killed in an airstrike in Gaza in July. Israel targeted Deif in a July 13 strike that hit a compound on the outskirts of the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis, but the military said for weeks it was working to determine if he died in the blast. Canadian-born Paul Whelan and Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich were set free today as the United States and Russia completed their largest prisoner swap in post-Soviet history. Officials in Turkey, where the exchange took place, say some two dozen people were set free through the multinational deal. The Punjab-Haryana High Court has sought a response from the Punjab government and the Center in the case of extension of NSA on Waris Punjab organization chief Amritpal Singh.
