Farmers protested against the BJP at several places including Amritsar, Moga, Kurukshetra, Ambala, Sonepat and Panchkula along the Shambhu Front between Punjab Haryana and burnt effigies.

Farmers in Punjab and Haryana today protested at several places under the leadership of Non-Political United Kisan Morcha and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha regarding legal guarantee of minimum support price for crops and other farmers' demands.

Farmers protested against the BJP at several places including Amritsar, Moga, Kurukshetra, Ambala, Sonepat and Panchkula along the Shambhu Front between Punjab Haryana and burnt effigies.

The farmers said that the agitation will continue till their demands are met.

4 deaths due to Corona in India in the last 24 hours

In India, 4 deaths have been reported due to Corona in the last 24 hours, two in Maharashtra and 1 each in Delhi and Kerala. According to the Health Department, 113 people have died due to Corona since January 2025. The highest number of deaths have occurred in Kerala and Maharashtra. A total of 13 deaths have also occurred in Delhi. There are 6,483 active cases of Corona in 32 states and union territories of the country. So far 42 patients of Corona have been found in Punjab.

Police investigating found body

Port Alberni RCMP is investigating following the discovery of a deceased person in a local park on Monday. On June 16, 2025, at 5:41 p.m., Port Alberni RCMP received the report of a body in Dry Creek Park. Frontline officers responded and located a deceased person with apparent injuries. The B-C Wildfire Service says it has issued an area restriction around the Kiskatinaw (kiss-KAT'-in-aw) River wildfirenear the B-C-Alberta border.
