Nancy Pelosi's plane lands in Taiwan amid China threat
US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's plane landed in Taiwan amid a heightened security threat from China, media reports said on Tuesday.
China had warned the US that it will "pay the price" if Pelosi visits Taiwan, which is the highest level of US visits in more than two decades.
"What I can tell you is, the US will definitely have to bear responsibility and pay the price for harming China's sovereignty and security interests," Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying told a press briefing in Beijing adding that China will take "firm and powerful" measures in response.

UCP candidate Aheer jumps in after participant flipped in running of the bulls event
A United Conservative Party leadership candidate leapt a fence to assist a man who was being trampled by a bull at the Strathmore Stampede east of Calgary over the weekend.
A male participant was charged and flipped during the running of the bulls event on Saturday, and that's when Leela Aheer jumped in.
Aheer, who represents the riding of Chestermere-Strathmore, can be seen in a video on social media trying to push the bull, which she later described as like ``trying to push a car.''
Others joined in and Aheer was able to help the man to safety over the fence.

Major crime detectives investigating street robbery in Abbotsford
On July 20th, at 3:43 am, AbbyPD Patrol Officers responded to a delayed report of a street robbery that occurred within the 2500 block of McCallum Road at 1:36 am. The 40-year-old female victim reported being robbed by four unknown males wearing dark clothing, all described as being in their late teens or early 20s.The suspects presented a firearm demanding money from the victim. During this altercation, the victim was dragged a short distance by the suspect's vehicle, described as an older model two-door grey Honda Civic. Charges laid in the death of Abbotsford resident
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), in partnership with the Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD), have obtained charges against a 48-year-old man. On July 28, 2022, at around 4:44 p.m., Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) responded to an assault at a residence in the 2900-block of Eastview Street, in Abbotsford. On arrival, AbbyPD found a 45-year-old woman with serious injuries, who was treated by paramedics but sadly, died at scene. AbbyPD located a 48-year-old man at the scene and took him into custody. B.C. releases details of monkeypox vaccine availability as outbreak spreads globally
The Province is making monkeypox vaccines available to people in British Columbia. Although the number of cases in B.C. remains low, some community transmission has been identified.As of July 27, 2022, there were 61 cases of monkeypox in British Columbia. This includes three cases in Fraser Health, 54 in Vancouver Coastal Health and four in Island Health. Two more Vande Bharat trains to come up on track in August this year
Two more Vande Bharat semi-high speed trains are expected to come up by August this year besides the two which are already operational in the country, said sources.
The trains, being manufactured by Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, are in the final stages. According to sources, the trial run of two newly manufactured Vande Bharat trains will start in the second week of August.

Dog to be euthanized after death of 86-year-old Calgary woman
The owners of three pit bulls who killed an elderly Calgary woman last month have surrendered one of the dogs to be euthanized.
Smoki and two other dogs _ Cinnamon and Bossii _ attacked 86-year-old Betty Williams on June 5th as she was gardening.
The owners have handed over ownership of Smoki in court.
But they plan to fight to keep the other two animals at a court hearing to be held this fall.

Ukrainian president observes 1st grain exports leaving
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday visited the Odesa region to observe the loading of grain as exports resume for the first time since the start of the Russian invasion.
Zelenskyy observed a Turkish ship loaded with grain.
“The first vessel, the first ship is being loaded since the beginning of the war,” Zelenskyy said.
He said the export of grain will begin with the departure of several ships that were already loaded but could not depart the Ukrainian ports.

The Indian Women's Hockey Team opened their campaign at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham with a solid 5-0 win against Ghana on Friday.
Gurjit Kaur (3', 39') scored a brace in the match while Neha (28'), Sangita Kumari (36'), and Salima Tete (56') also scored a goal each in the Pool A contest to help their team pick up the all-important win.
