One person dead in Trans-Canada Highway motorcycle crash west of Calgary
One person has died in an early morning crash on the Trans-Canada Highway west of Calgary.
Emergency crews responded to the crash about 20 kilometres west of the city around 7 a-m.
Mounties say one person who was riding a motorcycle has died.
It was not immediately clear if other vehicles were involved, but traffic heading west was down to a single lane this morning. One westbound lane of the highway was closed to traffic following the crash but reopened at around 9:30 a.m.

200 crore PMLA case: ED chargesheet names Jacqueline Fernandez as accused
A supplementary chargesheet was filed by the Enforcement Directorate in the Rs 200 crore extortion case against conman Sukesh Chandrashekar in a Delhi Court on Wednesday.
The chargesheet is mentioning the name of Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez as an accused. The chargesheet has been filed before Additional Sessions Judge Praveen Singh on Wednesday.
Jacqueline Fernandez is named as an accused in the chargesheet first time in the case. Jacqueline Fernandez has been summoned by ED several times in the matter for the purpose of investigation.

Gurdeep Singh Randhawa elected as 1st representative of Indian community in Germany
Gurdeep Singh Randhawa has been elected as the first representative of the Indian community in Germany on Wednesday.
Randhawa is the first Indian representative of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU) Thuringia.
CDU is Germany's strongest political party, currently headed by Friedrich Merz, and has been in power for most of the period since the end of World War II.

Alberta promises more officers for rural municipalities with provincial police plan
The United Conservative Party government has released its proposal for a provincial police service to replace the R-C-M-P in Alberta communities.
Justice Minister Tyler Shandro says the plan would add 275 front-line officers to small detachments.
It says 275 front-line police officers would be added to Alberta's 42 smallest detachments.
Justice Minister Tyler Shandro says the proposed model would have 65 to 85 community detachments that would have a minimum of 10 police officers and a maximum of 80 officers working in them.
The plan also includes service-hub detachments with between 48 and 192

Environment Canada warns some B.C. areas about a short-lived heat wave
Environment Canada says a strong ridge of high pressure will bring a short-lived heat wave to many areas of BC starting tomorrow and lasting until at least Thursday. The weather agency has issued a series of heat warnings covering inland sections of BC's north coast, along with parts of the southern Interior, including the Fraser Canyon and Central Okanagan, where daytime highs are expected to reach 35 to 40 degrees. Daytime highs between 29 to 35 degrees inland and 27 degrees near the water are expected for Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, eastern Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast.

Wolves get out of enclosure in Greater Vancouver Zoo, Langley RCMP and BCCOS investigating
The Greater Vancouver Zoo is working with the Langley RCMP and the B.C Conservation Officer Service to contain wolves that have been found outside their enclosure this morning, this is an ongoing investigation and is suspicious, and believed to be due to malicious intent. Most wolves are back in the care of our animal health and welfare team. GVZoo staff continue to actively search for small number of remaining wolves un-accounted for. Weapons seized in search of Surrey residence
On June 14th of this year, Langley RCMP General Investigation Section executed a search warrant at a Surrey residence in relation to a May 24th robbery / home invasion in Langley. The robbery took place at a residence in Willoughby where two men and one woman entered the home, punched the resident, knocking out one tooth and breaking another, and stole several electric skate boards, a box of tools, a tablet, a pressure washer and a big screen television. B.C. drug death toll passes 10,000 since declaration of emergency in 2016: coroner
British Columbia's chief coroner says the province has lost more than 10,000 lives to illicit drugs since the province declared a public health emergency in April 2016.
