Major action against Navjot Sidhu of Congress: Dimpa put in charge of Amritsar East Constituency

Preparations have started to challenge Navjot Singh Sidhu, the former president of the state Congress, who is keeping a distance from politics in Punjab. Even in Lok Sabha elections 2024, Sidhu neither came to Amritsar nor campaigned for anyone. After which now the state committee of Congress has handed over the responsibility of Amritsar East constituency to Jasbir Singh Dimpa. Navjot Sidhu and his wife have been MLAs from this constituency. Congress believes that they can now fight without Sidhu because without his support, Congress has won 7 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab.

Quebec adopts law to fine people who intimidate, harass politicians

Quebec's legislature has adopted a law that includes fines up to $1,500 for anyone who intimidates or harasses a politician. The Coalition Avenir Québec government has said the law is necessary to stem the rise in resignations of elected officials, particularly at the municipal level, but critics have said it threatens free speech rights. The government introduced the legislation shortly after an organization representing Quebec municipalities released a survey indicating 74 per cent of elected municipal leaders reported having experienced harassment and intimidation, and that 741 out of 8,00

Former Manitoba provincial court chief judge Raymond Wyant was expected to submit an interim report to the government today, followed by a full report next month. The government employee facilitating the investigation says the number of documents provided and interviews requested by the former judge means that initial time frame is no longer feasible. Deputy minister of jobs Chris McPherson says Wyant wil
