Former Punjab Congress leader Navjot Kaur Sidhu has publicly criticized senior Congress figure Rahul Gandhi, alleging that his leadership approach is contributing to the party’s decline in Punjab.
In recent remarks, Sidhu claimed that Gandhi is disconnected from ground realities in the state and has failed to address what she described as internal corruption within the Punjab unit of the Indian National Congress. She further alleged that members of his close circle are involved in the sale of party tickets, and suggested that Gandhi is either unaware of or not acting on the issue.
Sidhu’s comments come after she was expelled from the party. Since her removal, she has repeatedly spoken out against Congress leadership, particularly targeting Gandhi over the party’s internal functioning and electoral strategy in Punjab.
The Congress party has not issued an immediate response to her latest allegations. Political observers note that public criticism from former party insiders reflects ongoing factional tensions within the Punjab Congress, which has faced organizational challenges since losing power in the state.
Punjab remains a key state for Congress as it seeks to rebuild its base ahead of future elections, making internal unity and leadership accountability central issues for the party’s revival efforts.
