Coordinated response leads to high-risk arrest in Langley
A coordinated effort between Langley RCMP, Surrey Provincial Operational Support Unit (SPOSU), and the Lower Mainland District Integrated Emergency Response Team (LMD-IERT) led to the successful arrest of a suspect following a dangerous series of events involving a suspected stolen semi-truck.

Indian Student Jailed for Molesting air hostess
A 20-year-old Indian man has been sentenced to three weeks in jail in Singapore for molesting an air hostess. The Indian, identified as Rajat, grabbed the air hostess from behind and dragged her into the toilet with him on a Singapore Airlines flight from Perth to Singapore on February 28.
A passenger saw him do it and immediately freed the air hostess and pulled her out. Rajat was arrested after the plane landed at Changi Airport. He pleaded guilty in court on Wednesday.

54 people killed in overnight airstrikes on southern Gaza city, hospital says
A hospital in southern Gaza says 54 people have been killed in overnight airstrikes on the city of Khan Younis.
An Associated Press cameraman in Khan Younis counted 10 airstrikes on the city overnight into Thursday, and saw numerous bodies taken to the morgue in the city’s Nasser Hospital. Some bodies arrived in pieces, with some body bags containing the remains of multiple people. The hospital’s morgue confirmed 54 people had been killed.

Carney signs order to prioritize promise for middle-class tax cut
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney gave the green light to cut income taxes for 22 million Canadians from July 1 at the first cabinet meeting yesterday. This bill related to the middle class will be passed by the government first when the parliament session begins.
The Prime Minister has ordered the minister to prepare a bill in this regard while signing an instruction note. The government is to reduce the lowest personal income tax rate from 15 to 14 percent, which will save Canadian families up to $840 per year.

Alberta government amends referendum bill in effort to placate First Nations' concern
Alberta's government has made 11th-hour changes to controversial proposed legislation declaring that no separatio referendum question could threaten First Nations' existing treaty rights.
Premier Danielle Smith's government is working to considerably lower the threshold to allow for citizen-initiated referendums, including whether the province should separate from Canada.
Her government's proposed bill has yet to become law. Chiefs of Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation and Mikisew Cree First Nation say the amendments mean nothing, and the bill still needs to be shredded.

Police say Calgary bus driver attacked for refusing to go off route
Police say a Calgary transit bus driver was attacked for apparently refusing to drive off his route. Two suspects have been arrested. They say the driver had refused a request to deviate from his designated route and was assaulted in the city's northeast.
One rider tried to intervene in the attack but did not sustain serious injuries. The driver was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition but was upgraded to stable. A Mexican social media influencer was shot dead while she was livestreaming on TikTok. The victim, Valeria Marquez, was 23 years old. The incident happened on April 13, 2025.

Police say 15-year-old girl hurt in Prince George, B.C., shooting
Mounties in Prince George, B.C., say a 15-year-old girl was shot while in a recreational vehicle parked at a local homeless encampment. A statement from the RCMP says the teen was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
