The rate of unemployment in India rose to 7.8 per cent in June due to a sharp jump in unemployment in rural areas, the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) data showed on Tuesday. Unemployment in rural areas rose sharply during the month under review. Rural unemployment rose to 8.03 per cent in June 2022 from 6.62 per cent in the previous month. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Tuesday ordered a probe into the incident where SpiceJet's Delhi-Dubai flight was diverted to Karachi as the fuel indicator started malfunctioning. Edmonton Mayor Amarjeet Sohi says the city has delivered with a plan for a centre where social workers, firefighters and peace officers could work together to reduce crime, and now it is time for the province to step up. The BC Prosecution Service says a suspect arrested following a shooting at the Williams Lake Stampede has been charged with attempted murder. Jordell Sellars has also been charged with discharging a firearm with intent to endanger life. RCMP say two people were taken to hospital in what they say was a brazen shooting at the stampede grounds yesterday afternoon.
