Shiromani Akali Dal's Lok Sabha candidate from Chandigarh, Hardeep Singh Butrela, has resigned from the party, deciding not to contest the election.
Hardeep Butrella said that he took this decision because he did not get any support from the party and was facing lack of funds to contest the elections.
On Monday, he returned the ticket to party president Sukhbir Badal. It is to be noted that Hardeep Singh was the president of Chandigarh Akali Dal and the only councilor of the party in the municipal corporation.

Police make arrests in killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar

The Supreme Court will hear Arvind Kejriwal's interim bail on May 7
The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the interim bail of Arvind Kejriwal, who is lodged in Tihar Jail in the Delhi liquor scam case. Due to the elections, the Supreme Court is going to hear on May 7.
A bench of Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Dipankar Dutta said that Kejriwal's interim bail can be considered in view of the Lok Sabha elections, so that he can participate in the election campaign.
However, the apex court said Kejriwal's challenge to his arrest and remand, which is a main case, may take time. Interim bail will be considered only for participating in their election campaign.
