In Punjab, Congress has announced its candidate for firozpur Lok Sabha seat. Congress has given the ticket to Sher Singh Ghubaya, the old face of Akali Dal. Ghubaya left the Akali Dal and joined the Congress in 2021. He has been MP from this seat twice.

5 workers dead, 49 still missing after a building under construction collapsed in South Africa
Rescue teams worked through the night searching for dozens of construction workers buried for more than 12 hours under the rubble of concrete after a multi-story apartment complex that was being built collapsed in a coastal city in South Africa.
Authorities said early Tuesday that the death toll had risen to five, while 49 workers remained unaccounted-for in the mangled wreckage of the building, which collapsed on Monday afternoon. Authorities said a further 21 workers had been rescued from the rubble and taken to various hospitals, with at least 11 of them suffering severe injuries.

Sunita Kejriwal will campaign in Punjab
Sunita Kejriwal, wife of AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, will conduct an election campaign in three Lok Sabha constituencies of Punjab. These include Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Amritsar. According to sources, Sunita Kejriwal will visit Punjab on May 9 and 10 this week.

B.C. court date set for three accused of murdering Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar
Three suspects accused of murdering British Columbia Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar last year are scheduled to appear in court in Surrey on Tuesday.
Indian nationals Karanpreet Singh, Kamalpreet Singh, and Karan Brar are due to face charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy to murder at Surrey Provincial Court.

Dozens of London Drugs stores reopen after cybersecurity shutdown
London Drugs is gradually reopening its stores across Western Canada more than a week after a cybersecurity breach forced the retailer to close.
The company says it is working with independent cybersecurity experts to securely bring its systems back online after it was discovered April 28.
The Richmond, B.C.-based pharmacy and retailer operates about 80 London Drugs locations across Western Canada.
The retailer says on its website more than two dozen stores are back in operation in B.C., while six are open in Alberta, three in Saskatchewan and one in Manitoba.

WestJet, mechanics union agree to tentative deal to avoid strike
A potential strike between WestJet and its mechanics union appears to have been avoided.
A statement from the Calgary-based airline Sunday night says a tentative deal between it and the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association has been agreed to.
If the contract is ratified by both sides, it would mark the first approved collective bargaining agreement between WestJet and AMFA.
