The Punjab government has reinstated IPS officer Paramraj Singh Umranangal, who has been suspended for the past five years in the Bargari firing case. Umranangal has been posted as Inspector General in the Policy and Rules Department. The state government had reinstated Umranangal on July 11 on the fresh orders of the Punjab-Haryana High Court but the posting has not been given so far.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has left on Tuesday for a three-day visit to Brunei and Singapore. After Brunei they will go to Singapore. The tour will take place between 4-5 September. Gurpreet Singh, one of the two key witnesses in Sidhu Moosewala's murder case, has identified six accused including four shooters in the court of Mansa. This witness was riding in the Thar at the time of the murder of Moosewala.
