COVID: India reports 40,120 new cases, 585 deaths
On August 13, India reported 40,120 new COVID-19 cases. 585 deaths were reported in last 24 hrs, taking the toll to 4,30,254. A total of 42,295 people got recovered in the same duration. The active caseload is 3,85,227 currently. Total 52,95,82,956 vaccine doses have been administered so far.

India successfully tests DRDO-developed Indigenous Technology Cruise Missile
India has successfully tested the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)-developed Indigenous Technology Cruise Missile off the coast of Odisha's Balasore district. As per the sources, the missile flew for around 150 km with an indigenous cruise engine."More tests would be conducted in near future," sources added.Earlier, on July 23 India had successfully test-fired indigenously developed New Generation Akash Missile (Akash-NG), a Surface to Air Missile defence system in Balasore.It was the second test firing of the 30 km strike-range air defence missile systems in two days.

Delhi Cantt Minor rape case: Crime Branch gets three days remand of all accused
A Delhi Court on Monday granted three days remand of all accused to Delhi Police Crime Branch, arrested in connection with the alleged rape and murder of a nine-year-old girl. Additional Sessions Judge Ashutosh Kumar of Patiala House Court granted remand of all accused arrested in the case.
Earlier they were in Judicial custody. All accused were produced in the court through video conferencing.
Crime Branch through a remand application had moved Delhi Court and sought five-day remand of the accused to confront them to the witnesses, evidence and recreation etc.
