Alberta Health Services says it is investigating why it took 30 minutes for an ambulance to respond after dogs attacked an 86-year-old woman in Calgary. She was taken to hospital and later died. Alberta Health Services, which runs emergency medical services, says in a statement that staff have contacted the family to share condolences and discuss the EMS response. A five-year-old boy was taken to hospital after a northeast Edmonton house fire Monday evening. Firefighters rescued him from a burning home in Edmonton. Fire crews arrived at the house in the city's northeast just before suppertime. A woman and three other children were able to make it out safely but there was a five-year-old boy that needed to be rescued by firefighters. Officials say the boy was in serious but stable condition.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is set to hike the policy repo rate by 40 basis points to 4.80 per cent on Wednesday and increase the inflation forecast for the current fiscal to above 6 per cent from its earlier projection of 5.7 per cent, according to market analysts and economists. Five people were killed and five others injured after a large truck collided with a van belonging to school serving disabled adults in southeast Arkansas, authorities said.
