VPD arrest leads to charges in assault of senior

A Vancouver Police investigation has led to criminal charges against an accused shoplifter who allegedly threw hot soup in the face of a downtown convenience store worker Sunday night. The 70 year old victim was injured when she tried to stop the would-be thief. The suspect, who was carrying a cup of instant noodles, allegedly threw the soup in the woman’s face and on her clothes. The suspect fled the store, but was arrested nearby after Vancouver Police responded to a 9-1-1 call from a witness. The suspect appeared in court Monday. Defence Minister Anita Anand says Canada is officially buying the F-35 fighter jet to replace its aging CF-18s, ending the years-long search where it first began. Canada had announced plans to buy the F-35 back in 2010, before politics and government mismanagement scuttled that decision. Suspect arrested after police, paramedics shot with pellet gun

A Downtown Eastside man is in custody after Vancouver Police and paramedics were shot with a pellet gun fired from the window of a Hastings Street rooming house Sunday night. B.C. Ambulance Service paramedics were working in the lane behind the Carnegie Centre, near Main and Hastings, around 11 p.m. when someone began firing from above, striking the first responders and their ambulance. VPD investigates homicide at Fairview shelter

Vancouver Police are investigating the homicide of a 40 year old man, who was stabbed Sunday night outside a shelter on Yukon Street. The victim, a shelter resident, died in hospital around 10:30 p.m., after being stabbed during an altercation with another person near Yukon and West 5th Avenue. No arrests have been made.

Surrey RCMP is on the scene at a residence in the Fraser Heights area where three deceased persons have been located inside the house.
