The leaders of Canada’s three major political parties have officially launched their election campaigns. During a rally in Montreal, NDP leader Jagmeet Singh pledged that if his party forms the government, 100 percent of affordable housing will be built on all federal land across Canada.
Notably, 46-year-old Jagmeet Singh made history by becoming the leader of a major federal party in Canada in 2017. Under his leadership, the New Democratic Party (NDP) is contesting its third election. This campaign comes at a time when recent polls show a decline in support for both the NDP and the Conserv

Federal leaders enter first full campaign day
Liberal Leader Mark Carney will try to inject some Canadian symbolism and pride to his election campaign today with a stop in Gander, Nfld. Carney's chief opponents, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre and NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, will campaign in the seat-rich Greater Toronto Area.
Canadian unity is key in all three major party pushes so far, as they seek to promote themselves as the best positioned to handle U.S. President Donald Trump's economic attacks and threats of annexation. The election will be held on April 28.

The proposal was set to take effect on June 25 of last year and would have seen all businesses and individuals reporting more than $250,000 in capital gains in a year pay more tax on those proceeds.
The tax change drew sharp criticism from some tech leaders and professional groups and the Liberals
