SIT sent summons to Bikram Singh Majithia
The Special Investigation Team investigating the case related to the drug trafficking of crores of rupees in Punjab has sent summons to the senior leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal Bikram Majithia for re-interrogation.
The investigation team has ordered him to appear for questioning on February 15.
The Special Investigation Team headed by the new DIG of Patiala Range Harcharan Singh Bhullar will interrogate him for the second time.
Before this, about four people close to Majithia have also been questioned.

Trudeau's former MP filed a case against the Attorney General of Ontario
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's former MP Raj Grewal has sued the RCMP and Ontario's attorney general for $50-million in damages.
He has filed this case last year in connection with his acquittal by the Ontario Court of the two charges of breach of trust, in which he was charged with abuse of political office.
Grewal was accused of taking money to cover gambling losses to work on immigration files and to have two Brampton-area businessmen join the prime minister's program during Trudeau's 2018 visit to India.

Despite the lapse of 80 hours, the Election Commission is yet to officially announce the results, while former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has stepped up efforts for a coalition government.
On the other hand, some of the 101 independent candidates who won with the support of Imran Khan's party PTI have switched sides and started going with Nawaz. 5 independent candidates joined the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz which won 75 seats on Monday.

The Haryana government has sealed the borders with Punjab
In view of the march of farmers from Punjab to Delhi, the Haryana government has sealed the borders with Punjab and imposed Section 144 for a month to prevent the gathering of crowds in Delhi.
Meanwhile, a meeting of farmers' leaders and Union ministers is being held in Chandigarh this evening before tomorrow's Delhi march of 26 farmers' organizations of Punjab and Haryana.
If this meeting is not successful, then Joginder Singh Ugrahan, leader of Bharatiya Kisan Union Ugrahan and Harinder Singh, leader of Bharatiya Kisan Union Lakhowal, have also announced Bharat Bandh on February 16.

Poilievre proposes mandatory prison to combat rise of extortion
In an exclusive interview at Connect FM's studio today, Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre attacked Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and said that the situation has deteriorated during his 8-year tenure.

Telus reports Q4 profit and revenue up from year earlier
Telus Corp. reported fourth-quarter net income attributable to common shares of $288 million, up from $248 million a year earlier.
The company says the profit amounted to 20 cents per share for the quarter ended Dec. 31, up from 17 cents per share in the last three months of 2022.
Operating revenue and other income totalled $5.20 billion, up from $5.06 billion in the same quarter a year earlier.
On an adjusted basis, Telus says it earned 24 cents per share for its fourth quarter, the same as its fourth quarter of 2022.

B.C. minister who resigned over Mideast comments received death threat, premier says
British Columbia's premier says Selina Robinson, who resigned as post-secondary education minister recently over Mideast comments, has received a death threat.
David Eby called the action inexcusable in a statement posted on the social media platform X.
He says police are investigating to find out who is responsible and that Robinson is safe.
Robinson stepped down from the cabinet post on Monday after facing growing criticism over her comments during an online panel that modern Israel was founded on a "crappy piece of land," which critics called racist and Islamophobic.
