Despite the lapse of 80 hours, the Election Commission is yet to officially announce the results, while former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has stepped up efforts for a coalition government.

After the elections in Pakistan, the counting of votes has been completed. No party could get the figure of 134 i.e. majority.

Despite the lapse of 80 hours, the Election Commission is yet to officially announce the results, while former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has stepped up efforts for a coalition government.

On the other hand, some of the 101 independent candidates who won with the support of Imran Khan's party PTI have switched sides and started going with Nawaz. 5 independent candidates joined the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz which won 75 seats on Monday.

Nawaz's party is in talks with Bilwal Bhutto's Pakistan People's Party and two other political parties to form the government both at the Center and in Punjab. It is to be noted that Pakistan People's Party has 54 and MQM. has 17 seats and Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan 4, with whom Nawaz Sharif is in talks to form a coalition government.

B.C. Wildfire Service announces ban on most open fires in coastal areas

The BC Wildfire Service has announced open fire bans that will prohibit most burning activities in most coastal areas of the province, with exceptions for Haida Gwaii. The ban on Category 2 and Category 3 open fires in the Coastal Fire Centre comes into effect at noon Friday, and the service says it's being imposed to reduce the risk of wildfires. The service says the ban will remain in place until Oct. 31 or until it is rescinded.
