B.C. health officials report one new community outbreak related to COVID-19
British Columbia reported one new community outbreak of COVID-19 today at a construction site for a water treatment facility in the Interior Health region. Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says there are seven cases in the outbreak, and that six of the workers live in Alberta. Health officials also released a map showing the spread of the illness in the province, with most of the infections in the Lower Mainland. Explosive discovery in Kamloop's South Thompson River
A boat launch and the surrounding area in Kamloops is closed as police investigate the discovery of a plastic bag containing explosives. R-C-M-P say they got a call from a local angler who found the bag near the Lafarge Bridge yesterday evening.They say he put the bag back into the water just off the boat launch at the north end of the bridge. The R-C-M-P explosives disposal unit and dive team will be there today in hopes of finding and safely disposing of the bag.

B.C. reports 62 new COVID-19 cases, no deaths as active cases tick down slightly
BC is reporting 62 cases of COVID-19 today and no new deaths. In a joint news release, Health Minister Adrian Dix and provincial health officer Doctor Bonnie Henry say the number of active cases has ticked down slightly from 925 to 896. The number of people who are under active monitoring by public health workers as a result of exposure to known cases has increased by 55 to 2,730. Vancouver Coastal Health has also warned of a possible public exposure to the virus at the Banter Room bar and restaurant between August 20th and 22nd.

Wildfire that sparked evacuations reclassified as 'held' near Penticton, B.C.
The BC Wildfire Service says the fire smouldering south of Penticton is now unlikely to spread. The service has reclassified the fire that scorched more than 20 square kilometres on the east side of Skaha Lake as ``held.'' A fire is held when the service believes enough action has been taken with the resources at hand that the fire is not likely to spread under prevailing or forecasted conditions. The majority of residents forced to flee have been allowed to return home and authorities have said they hope to lift the evacuation order for 74 remaining properties soon.

British Columbia has two outbreaks of COVID-19 at health care facilities as officials reported 58 new cases across the province on Tuesday. They say the two outbreaks are in the Fraser Health region, one at Bear Creek Villa and the other at Langley Memorial Hospital. More than 200 firefighters move around smouldering wildfire near Penticton, B.C.
A wildfire south of Penticton is dying down, allowing firefighting crews to move around its flanks as officials inspect the area to ensure it's safe for evacuees to return to their homes. B.C. reaches highest 1-day total of COVID-19 cases as police hand out more fines
British Columbia has hit its highest number of daily COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic, with 109 people testing positive for the disease. The milestone was reached between Friday and Saturday, surpassing the 100 cases reported on Aug. 14. Traffic stop in Kamloops results in seizure of more than 840,000 dollars
A recent traffic stop in Kamloops resulted in the seizure of more than 840,000 dollars. Corporal Mike Halskov says a semi-truck had returned to BC from Alberta and it's suspected the cash was drug money. He says a police dog indicated that the money inside smelled like illicit drugs. The driver was a man from Surrey in his 50s and a charge of possession of the proceeds of crime is expected to be laid.
