Vancouver Police are investigating after a woman was found with gunshot wounds in the Downtown Eastside early Thursday morning. Officers discovered the injured 39-year-old near Main Street and East Cordova just before 1 a.m., after she approached a passerby and asked for help. When officers arrived, they found the victim badly injured. VPD provided immediate first aid to the woman, who was taken to hospital and is now receiving treatment for serious injuries. The remains of Cynthia Martin who was reported missing on December 24, 2018 were found on May 1, 2022. Since then, the investigation continued to positively identify the remains and confirm the identity of Cynthia.At this time, the investigation remains active an ongoing into Cynthia Martin’s death. Surrey RCMP is advising the public of a shooting in the Guildford area that left one person deceased and requesting anyone with information to contact police. On August 9, 2022, at approximately 2:20 p.m., Surrey RCMP received the report of shots fired at a taxi in a parking lot in the 14800 block of 108 Avenue. On July 24, 2022 shortly after 11:00 pm, a couple living in the 7000 block of Gollner Avenue were assaulted in an attempted break and enter. The victims, a man and woman both over the age of 60, sustained non-life threatening injuries, but required hospitalization. On August 8th at approximately noon, the New Westminster Police Department received a call from a witness advising there was a man walking through the Brow of the Hill neighbourhood with a hatchet. Williams Lake RCMP officers are investigating after responding to a fatal incident involving an ATV which claimed the life of a 17-year-old youth. Just after midnight on August 7, 2022, Williams Lake RCMP attended to the gravel area at the end of Gun a Noot trail after being requested to assist with a ATV rollover.
