An Israeli airstrike on a journalist compound kills 3 TV staffers, state news says
AnIsraeli airstrikeon a compound housing journalists in southeast Lebanon has killed three media staffers, Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency said Friday.
The Beirut-based pan-Arab Al-Mayadeen TV said two of its staffers were among the journalists killed early Friday. Al-Manar TV of Lebanon’s Hezbollah group said its camera operator Wissam Qassim was killed in the airstrike on the Hasbaya region, that has been spared much of the fighting along the border so far.
Al-Mayadeen said camera operator Ghassan Najar and broadcast technician Mohammed Rida died.

B.C. election recounts won't start until Sunday afternoon
Voting officials say recounts in two ridings that could determine the outcome of British Columbia's election won't start until Sunday afternoon.Elections BC says results of the Surrey City Centre recount will be posted on Sunday when it is complete, with the results from the Juan De Fuca - Malhat recount to be posted on Monday.
The election agency also says in a statement that screening of uncounted absentee and mail-in ballots has identified 65,000 ballots province-wide must also be tallied in a process running from Saturday until Monday, up from the previous estimate of 49,000.

After the statement of Jathedar Singh Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Raja Waring said that he bowed his head and apologized to Sri Akal Takht Sahib. Waring said that he cannot speak wrongly about Shri Akal Takht Sahib and Jathedar Sahib even out of forgetfulness.
This comes after Sri Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Gaini Raghbir Singh took notice of Raja Warring and ordered to apologise immediately.

Coroner says there's been a sharp spike in females dying from illicit drugs in B.C.
Illicit drug deaths are down slightly in British Columbia from the same period last year, but the coroners service says females are dying at a much higher rate.
The service says in a statement that 26 per cent of the 1,749 toxicity deaths so far this year were women or girls, and the rate of death among females is up 60 per cent from four years ago.
There were 187 overdose deaths in B.C. in August and 183 in September.

Trudeau says he will remain prime minister despite caucus revolt
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he has no intention of stepping down as the leader of the Liberal party by next week.
A letter signed by two dozen Liberal MPs asking Trudeau to step down was presented to the prime minister Wednesday at a tense caucus meeting in Ottawa.
The letter asked for him to let the caucus know by Oct. 28 what he decides to do.
Trudeau told MPs he would reflect on what was said, but when asked today if he would stay on as prime minister after that date he answered a definitive "yes."

Palestinian officials say an Israeli strike on a school-turned-shelter in Gaza has killed 16
An Israeli strike on a school where displaced people were sheltering in the central Gaza Strip killed at least 16 people on Thursday, Palestinian medical officials said.
Another 32 people were wounded in the strike in the built-up Nuseirat refugee camp, according to the Awda Hospital, which received the casualties.
There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military.
Israel has carried out several strikes on schools-turned-shelters in recent months, saying it precisely targets Hamas militants hiding out among civilians. The strikes often kill women and children.

Trudeau to announce massive drop in immigration targets: official
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to announce a major drop in the number of new permanent residents Canada will accept in 2025.

Former woman MLA arrested with 128-gram heroin
