Pakistan has got its first wins in T20 World Cup 2024. The team has defeated Canada by 7 wickets. Pakistan captain Babar Azam said after the victory that we needed this victory.
It may be mentioned that Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and decided to bowl first. The Canadian team came out to bat first, except Aaron Johnson's excellent half-century, and the whole team could only score 106 runs after losing 7 wickets in 20 overs.

B.C. should step up on asylum claims, minister says in response to call for funds
Immigration Minister Marc Miller says British Columbia needs to step up and take on more asylum seekers who come to Canada.
He was responding today to criticism from the B.C. premier, who says he's frustrated to see Quebec and Ontario "showered" with federal cash to help cope with an influx of asylum seekers and temporary residents.
David Eby says Western provinces deserve a share of the $750-million deal Ottawa recently struck with Quebec to help pay for the services, but Miller says the premier may be confused about what the money was for.

By-elections for 4 more Vidhan Sabha seats may be announced soon in Punjab
By-elections for 4 more assembly seats may be announced in Punjab soon. These are the seats from where sitting MLAs have now become MPs. These assembly seats include Dera Baba Nanak, Giddarbaha, Barnala and Chabewal assembly constituency of Hoshiarpur.
According to the rules, MLAs Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Amarinder Singh Raja Waring and Gurmeet Singh Meet Hare, who won the Lok Sabha elections, will have to resign before June 20. After his resignation, the Election Commission will start further proceedings for the by-election.

Green Leader Elizabeth May says no list of disloyal MPs in full spy watchdog report
Green Party's Elizabeth May says she believes the small number of MPs named in a recent spy watchdog report did not knowingly set out to betray Canada.
May says today she is "vastly relieved" after reading an unredacted version of a report on foreign interference by the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians.
The intelligence watchdog said in a public report last week that some MPs wittingly assisted the efforts of foreign states to meddle in Canadian politics.
May says the full version of the report does not contain a list of MPs who have been disloyal to Canada.

Vancouver police arrest five, seize drugs, in Quebec gang investigation
Vancouver police have arrested five men, and recovered more than 24 kilograms of illicit drugs, after a lengthy investigation into a gang originally from Quebec.
A statement from the department says members of the gang known as Zone 43 established operations in Vancouver and were the focus of a 14-month investigation by its organized crime section.
The statement says investigators served five search warrants in May three in Vancouver and two in Burnaby.

Rare white grizzly bear Nakoda and her cubs die in separate crashes in B.C. park
Parks Canada says a rare white grizzly bear has died of injuries that happened when she was struck by a car on the Trans-Canada Highway in British Columbia's Yoho National Park, on the same day her cubs were killed in an earlier crash.
It says the crash that killed the adult bear, nicknamed Nakoda, happened on Thursday about 12 hours after the two cubs were struck and killed on the highway in southeast B.C. that morning.
The agency says wildlife management staff had been repairing fencing along the road when the adult bear was startled by a train and ran in front of two vehicles.

Chinese police say man under arrest in stabbing of US college instructors
Chinese police say a suspect is in custody in a stabbing attack on four instructors from Iowa’s Cornell College who were teaching at a Chinese university in the northeast city of Jilin.
Jilin city police said a 55-year old man surnamed Cui was walking in a public park when he had bumped into a foreigner. He then stabbed the foreigner and three other foreigners who were with him, and a Chinese person who approached in an attempt to intervene.
