In an old case of the Punjab Arms Act, Delhi's Patiala House Court on Friday sent gangster Lawrence Bishnoi to police custody for four days. Delhi Police South Range Special Cell had sought four days' custody of Bishnoi. According to the police, in a case related to Punjab, gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria told the police that Bishnoi had given him weapons to carry out the crime. Bhagwanpuri is currently lodged in jail. Charges approved against a 33 year old woman in connection with two stabbings in Surrey

Surrey RCMP say charges have been approved against a 33 year old woman arrested in connection with two stabbings last week inside a Walmart and a grocery store. Police say a female victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries after the first stabbing at a Superstore a week ago. The suspect was arrested following another stabbing that was believed to be unprovoked two days later at a Walmart where the victim suffered non-life threatening injuries. The Mounties say the woman has been charged with two counts each of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.

Authorities: 3 dead, trooper wounded in Maryland shooting

Authorities say a man has opened fire at a business in western Maryland, leaving three dead before the suspect and a state trooper were wounded in a shootout. The Washington County Sheriff's Office said in a news release that three victims were found dead Thursday at Columbia Machine Inc. in Smithsburg and a fourth victim was critically injured. The release says the suspect then fled in a vehicle and was tracked down by Maryland State Police. The sheriff's office says the suspect and a trooper were wounded in an exchange of gunfire. Both were being treated for their wounds.

A commercial poultry farm in Langley Township is the latest to report an outbreak of avian flu in BC. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says the H-5-N-1 strain of highly pathogenic avian influenza was confirmed on the farm yesterday. Data from the agency shows this is the first outbreak among flocks in Langley and a primary control zone is still being determined. It's the 16th confirmed outbreak in BC since the first was reported in the north Okanagan in mid-April and it's the fourth commercial flock to be affected.

Alberta Premier Jason Kenney says it's inadequate that it took an ambulance 30 minutes to get to an 86-year-old Calgary woman who had been attacked by dogs.
