Scenic highway in Jasper National Park reopened as wildfire continues to be held
One of Canada's most scenic highways has reopened as the wildfire in Jasper National Park continues to be held.
Jane Park, incident commander with Parks Canada, says Highway 93, also known as the Icefields Parkway, is now open to through traffic.
But she warns travellers must head straight through the mountain- and glacier-lined road without stopping.
She says there are no services available on the highway between the town of Jasper and the Icefields Discovery Centre and Saskatchewan River Crossing, a stretch of about 150 kilometres.

Judicial custody of former minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu extended by 14 days
The judicial custody of senior Congress leader and former minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu from Punjab's Ludhiana has been extended for 14 days. He was arrested by the ED on August 1 in the Jalandhar office after questioning in the case of a multi-crore transport scam in the Food and Supplies Department.

A bus carrying dozens of Indian pilgrims drove off a highway Friday inNepal, leaving several people injured or missing.
The bus veered off the highway and rolled toward a fast-flowing river, stopping on the rocky bank.

Attackers ambush and kill 11 police officers in eastern Pakistan, officials say
Attackers armed with guns and rocket-propelled grenades ambushed a police convoy in Pakistan's eastern Punjab province Thursday, killing at least 11 officers and wounding others, police and officials said.
The attack happened in the Rahim Yar Khan district when the police officers were passing through a deserted area as part of an operation targeting robbers in the region, Punjabi police said in a statement.
