B.C. Opposition Leader Rustad wants to hit U.S. with 'carbon tax' on coal shipments

British Columbia Opposition Leader John Rustad is proposing a "carbon tax" on U.S. thermal coal that is shipped out of B.C. ports to use as leverage against threats of American tariffs on Canadian softwood lumber. Rustad says such a tax would be a "tool to fight back" on softwood tariffs and duties proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, which Forests Minister Ravi Parmar said last week could increase to more than 50 per cent. He says that until "unfair and unwarranted" U.S. duties on B.C. softwood are removed, the province needs "to be ready to hit the Americans where it hurts.” The B.C. C

Farmers Will Not March to Delhi Tomorrow: Sarwan Singh Pandher

Amid the ongoing agitation at the Shambhu and Khanauri borders of Punjab-Haryana, and ongoing talks with the Center, Kisan Mazdoor Morcha leader Sarwan Singh Pandher has postponed the planned march of 101 farmers from the Shambhu border to Delhi, which was scheduled for February 25. This march will now take place on March 25 if the Center does not address the demands in the third round of talks. Pierre Poilievre Unveils “Canada First” Plan: Promises Easier Trade and Retaliatory Tariffs

Canada’s main opposition leader, Pierre Poilievre, has announced that if elected, he will make it easier for Canadians to do business with one another and reward provinces that remove internal trade barriers. Poilievre has unveiled his party’s Canada First plan, stating that his common-sense Conservative government would implement dollar-for-dollar retaliatory tariffs. These tariffs would specifically target American goods that Canada can produce domestically, source from other countries, or do without. For example, Poilievre suggested that Canada could retaliate against American steel an

Trump rules out military action on Greenland, calls it vital to U.S. security

U.S. President Donald Trump says his administration will not pursue military action regarding Greenland, but maintains the Arctic territory remains critical to American national security. Speaking during an address at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Trump said the United States would seek dialogue rather than force in dealing with Greenland, which is an autonomous territory of Denmark. He argued that Greenland’s strategic location makes it essential to U.S. security interests, particularly in the Arctic region. Trump told the audience that, in his view, no other country is capable of prov
