Indian rapper Badshah appeared before the National Commission for Women and issued a written apology over controversy surrounding his song “Tateeri,” according to the commission.
The song, released on March 1, 2026 on YouTube, drew criticism shortly after its launch over allegations that its lyrics contained objectionable language about women and depicted schoolgirls inappropriately. The commission had taken notice of the complaints and sought an explanation from the artist.
According to officials, Badshah acknowledged concerns raised about the lyrics and assured the commission that he would exercise greater caution in future projects. He also stated that he would not repeat such content going forward.
The matter relates to broader concerns about representation of women in media and the regulatory oversight exercised by statutory bodies such as the National Commission for Women, which can issue notices and seek responses in cases involving alleged derogatory portrayals.
