Croatian police say a 7-year-old girl died and 6 other people wounded in a knife attack in a school
A 7-year-old girl died and a teacher and five other students were wounded in a knife attack at a school in the Croatian capital, Zagreb, authorities said Friday.
Police said the attack happened at 9:50 a.m. at the Precko Elementary School in the neighborhood of the same name. They described the attacker as a “young male” and said he had been detained. Health Minister Irena Hristic said the attacker was over 18, while media reported he was 19. Video footage published by Croatian media showed children running away from the school building.

US Confirms First Serious Human Case of Bird Flu
The US has confirmed its first serious human case of bird flu in a patient from Louisiana. The US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) stated that the Louisiana patient was hospitalized after testing positive for bird flu on December 13. Meanwhile, California has declared a state of emergency to address the growing outbreak.
The CDC also confirmed that this is the first serious human case of H5N1 bird flu in the US. However, a total of 61 human cases of bird flu have been reported in the US since April.

A French court on Thursday declared the ex-husband of Gisèle Pelicot guilty of aggravated rapes and all other charges against him.
The verdict for 72-year-old Dominique Pelicot was read by the lead judge of the court in Avignon, Roger Arata. He hasn't yet delivered the sentence, which can be up to 20 years imprisonment.

Russia Develops Cancer Vaccine
Russia has succeeded in developing a cancer vaccine. Andrei Kuprin, General Director of the Radiological Medical Research Center of the Russian Ministry of Health, informed Radio Rossiya about this breakthrough.

11 Indians found dead at restaurant in Georgia's mountain resort of Gudauri
Twelve Indian nationals were found dead at a restaurant in Georgia's mountain resort of Gudauri, Of these, 10 were residents of Punjab.
Georgia's internal affairs ministry statement said 11 victims were foreigners while one victim was a citizen. No signs of injuries or signs of violence were detected in an initial inspection. The head of Russia’s nuclear defense forces has been killed in an explosion in Moscow
The head of Russia’s Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Defence Forces, Lt. General Igor Kirillov, was killed early Tuesday by an explosive device planted close to a residential apartment block in Moscow, Russia’s Investigative Committee said.
Kirillov’s assistant also died in the blast.
Kirillov was sentenced in absentia by a Ukrainian court Monday for the use of banned chemical weapons during Russia’s military operation in Ukraine that started in Feb. 2022.
