Italy Police have confiscated 14 metric tonnes (15.4 US tonnes) of amphetamines allegedly produced by the ISIS in Syria. Hong Kong police make first arrests under new security law
Hong Kong police have made the first arrests under a new national security law imposed by mainland China, as thousands of people defied tear gas and pepper pellets to protest against it.
Police say they arrested 10 people under the law, including at least one who was carrying a Hong Kong independence flag.
The law, which took effect Tuesday night, makes activities deemed subversive or secessionist punishable by up to life in prison.
It appears directly aimed at activities that occurred during anti-government demonstrations last year.

Ex-Atlanta officer who killed Rayshard Brooks granted bond
A judge says the former Atlanta police officer who fatally shot Rayshard Brooks can be free on bond while his case is pending. A judge on Tuesday set a bond of $500,000 for Garrett Rolfe, who faces charges including felony murder in the killing of the 27 year old Black man. Rolfe fatally shot Brooks in the back when Brooks fired a Taser in his direction while running away after a struggle on June 12. Rolfe is white. Felony murder convictions are punishable by a minimum sentence of life in prison. The shooting happened against the backdrop of demonstrations nationwide over police brutality.

He adds it is not anywhere near over. He notes that tomorrow marks six months since the UN health agency was first informed of a cluster of unusual pneumonia cases in China. Pre-trial hearing held for former Minneapolis police officers charged in the death of George Floyd
A pre-trial hearing was held today for the four former Minneapolis police officers charged in the death of George Floyd. Derek Chauvin, who knelt on Floyd's neck for several minutes, is charged with second-degree murder and other counts. The other four are charged with aiding and abetting. Floyd's uncle Selwyn Jones says he hopes the trials will not come to nothing. A judge has warned he's likely to move the trials out of Minneapolis if public officials, attorneys and family members don't stop speaking out about the case.

Microsoft to permanently close all physical stores
Microsoft said Friday it is permanently closing nearly all of its physical stores around the world.
Like other retailers, the software and computing giant had to temporarily close all of its stores in late March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to its website, Microsoft has 83 stores worldwide, including 72 stores in the U.S., and several others abroad where it showcases and sells laptops and other hardware.
Friday's announcement reflects what the company calls a "strategic change" for its retail business as sales increasingly shift online.
