A senior White House official says he is deeply concerned by the murder of a Canadian citizen on Canadian soil and allegations that Indian agents were behind the murder.

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said in Washington that they are also having high level talks with India in the case of the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

He said that they support the efforts being made by Canada in this investigation and are also in touch with the Government of India.

Sullivan said that some media reports are saying that differences are going on between America and Canada on this issue, he rejected all these allegations saying that it is a rumour.

He said that those accused by Canada should be investigated and the culprits should be punished.

He said that he is also in constant contact with the Canadian authorities.

It is worth mentioning that relations between India and Canada have become strained after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused the Indian government of involvement in the murder of Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, due to which India also suspended Indian visa services for Canadians.
