Two Vancouver police officers have been cleared of wrongdoing related to their actions in Ottawa as they helped police in that city handle protests related to the ``Freedom Convoy'' demonstration earlier this year.

Ontario's Special Investigations Unit, which probes all cases of police-involved death, serious injury or sexual assault, stepped in when the officers fired less-lethal rounds, including rubber bullets, bean bags and a pepper-spray projectile, at two protesters.

The director of the unit says he found no reasonable grounds that the officers acted unlawfully when they fired at the demonstrators.

One person was hit in the leg but the investigation says the officers exercised ``reasonable and legitimate'' police powers.
