Two people killed in Langley crash involving SUV and commercial truck, RCMP investigating

Langley RCMP are investigating a fatal collision that claimed the lives of two people after a crash involving a sport utility vehicle and a commercial truck at the intersection of 256 Street and 16 Avenue.

According to a Langley RCMP news release, officers responded to the collision at approximately 10:49 p.m. on Aug. 4. Emergency crews from the Township of Langley Fire Department, BC Emergency Health Services, and Langley RCMP attended the scene.

Police said one person was pronounced dead at the scene, while a second person later died in hospital. Sergeant Zynal Sharoom said investigators continue to examine the circumstances that led to the collision.

The Lower Mainland Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) has been deployed to assist with the investigation. Police have not released the identities of the victims, and the cause of the crash has not been determined.

Road closures remained in effect overnight while investigators examined the scene, causing traffic disruptions in the area. All affected roads have since reopened.
