There may be a re-alliance between Shiromani Akali Dal and BSP in Punjab.
BSP state president Jasvir Garhi has said that an agreement with Shiromani Akali Dal is possible provided Sukhbir Singh Badal talks to BSP supremo Mayawati. On the other hand, the Akali leadership says that withdrawing from the alliance was a unilateral decision of the BSP.
Senior Akali leader and former MP Prem Singh Chandumajra said Akali Dal never said no to BSP. At the same time, Akali leaders hope that the alliance with the BSP will improve the party's prospects in constituencies where Dalits have a large population.
