The Supreme Court of India has rejected the previous results of the Chandigarh Mayoral elections.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud declared valid the 8 ballot papers declared illegal by Presiding Officer Anil Masih on Tuesday, after which Aam Aadmi Party and Congress alliance candidate Kuldeep Kumar became the new mayor of Chandigarh.
It is to be noted that after the Chandigarh Mayoral elections held on January 30, Presiding Officer Anil Masih declared 8 out of 36 votes as illegal and declared BJP candidate Manoj Kumar as the winner. The Supreme Court has also ordered action against the presiding officer.
