The Shiromani Akali Dal has welcomed the implementation of the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) by the Modi government.

Speaking to a newspaper, party spokesperson Daljit Singh Cheema said that we had earlier welcomed the CAA with the message that Muslims should also be included in it.

He said that even now there is no issue, so there can be an amendment later, but with the issuance of the notification now, at least thousands of Sikhs and Hindus from Afghanistan will get citizenship, which they have been waiting for for a long time.

Shiromani Akali Dal spokesperson said that we welcome the notification but our stand is the same as it was in 2019.
