The rebel faction of the Shiromani Akali Dal has announced an Akali Dal reform movement with the intention of ousting Sukhbir Singh Badal from the post of president and strengthening the party.

Bibi Jagir Kaur said that Gurpratap Singh Wadala has been appointed as the convener of the Shiromani Akali Dal reform movement today with the consent of all. The rebel faction also said that those who were expelled from the party by Sukhbir Singh Badal during the elections or who belong to the old Akali family, will be reinstated in the party.

At the same time, Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra said before the meeting that Sukhbir Singh Badal should resign if SAD is to be strengthened. He said that the whole situation has become clear in the Jalandhar elections.
