The rebel Akali faction elected Gurpratap Singh Wadala as the convener for the Shiromani Akali Dal reform movement

The rebel faction of the Shiromani Akali Dal has announced an Akali Dal reform movement with the intention of ousting Sukhbir Singh Badal from the post of president and strengthening the party.

Bibi Jagir Kaur said that Gurpratap Singh Wadala has been appointed as the convener of the Shiromani Akali Dal reform movement today with the consent of all. The rebel faction also said that those who were expelled from the party by Sukhbir Singh Badal during the elections or who belong to the old Akali family, will be reinstated in the party.

At the same time, Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra said before the meeting that Sukhbir Singh Badal should resign if SAD is to be strengthened. He said that the whole situation has become clear in the Jalandhar elections.

Clinton Residents Fined $15,000 for Violating Evacuation Order

People who violated an evacuation order issued because of a wildfire in the B.C. village of Clinton have been fined a total of $15,000 over the past two weeks. Local authorities and police are urging residents to stay out of evacuation zones for their own safety. Charges approved following break-in to Chinatown business

Crown Counsel has approved one count of break-and-enter of a commercial business after Vancouver Police arrested a suspect yesterday. Just after 7 a.m., the Vancouver Police Department responded to a report of a broken window in a business near Georgia Street and Gore Avenue. An employee reported seeing a man smash the window and enter the premises. VPD officers attended and searched the building. After reviewing video footage, they believed the man was still inside. B.C. Wildfire Official Warns of Arson Risk as Major Fires Intensify

British Columbia Wildfire Service Director Cliff Chapman has raised concerns over the current wildfire situation in the province and warned about the risk of deliberately set fires.
