The first refugee MP to reach the Parliament of New Zealand. has resigned Golriz Gehraman, 42, is accused of stealing three times from two clothing stores, one in Auckland and the other in Wellington.

Gehraman made history in 2017 by becoming the first refugee to join the New Zealand government, who is now facing a police investigation in theft cases.

It comes after footage emerged of her stealing a designer handbag from an Auckland boutique. Gehraman also said that she is not mentally well, needs time to focus on this, hence she is resigning.
