Bhaluth MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira, who was made a Lok Sabha candidate from Sangrur by the Punjab Congress, has termed former Congress MLA Dalvir Singh Goldy as a duplicitous person who joined AAP. Khaira said that a leader lik Dalvir Goldy can cheat anyone for his seat.

He said that the party which made him MLA stabbed him in the back. Today, by joining the Aam Aadmi Party, Goldy double face has come to the fore, which directly shows the hunger for power.

Khaira said that the political journey of those who are hungry for chairs ends very soon and one day they will long to come back to the Congress. It may be noted that Goldy wanted a ticket from the Congress for himself as it was his home district but the party gave the ticket to Khaira.

Prime Minister Mark Carney has called a byelection for the riding of Battle River — Crowfoot in Alberta for Aug. 18. Teen arrested after unprovoked machete attack

A 15-year-old boy in Winnipeg is accused of attacking a 68-year-old man with a machete. Police say the assault on Friday night was random and happened while the man was walking past a Salvation Army on Henry Avenue. He was taken to hospital and police say he will require surgery. They say witnesses detained the boy until police arrived, and that officers recovered two machetes during the arrest.

Punjab Vigilance today arrested former Akali Minister Bikram Majithia after raiding his Amritsar residence, in a case of disproportionate assets. Vigilance has seized 29 mobile phones, 4 laptops, 2 iPads, 8 diaries and other documents from Majithia’s house. This new case comes at a time when a drug-related case registered against Majithia under the NDPS Act in 2021 is already under investigation. Majithia said that this entire action is being taken with a sense of political vendetta but he is not going to be intimidated by it.
