The case of deaths due to poisonous liquor in Punjab's Sangrur is in the headlines. On Monday, Shiromani Akali Dal president and former deputy chief minister of the state Sukhbir Badal visited the village of Gujran in Sangrur and met the families of the deceased.
Sukhbir Singh Badal held the state's AAP government responsible for the incident and demanded a compensation of at least 20 lakh rupees to the families of the deceased and a government job to one of the family members.
More than a dozen people have died due to drinking poisoned liquor in the village of Gujars. Several patients are still hospitalized, some of whom are in critical condition.
